2024 St Patrick’s College Junior Musical: ‘Newsies Jnr’

Monday, 02 Dec 2024

In April this year, St Patrick’s College proudly presented the Junior Musical ‘Newsies Jnr’.

The musical ran over three nights with performance held in the Drama Rooms of the Waterford Building. We were incredibly fortunate to have the esteemed Jesse Bradford, a professional music theatre director, guiding our talented cast.

‘Newsies Jnr’ is a vibrant and inspiring musical based on the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. The story follows a group of courageous newsboys who rally together to fight for fair treatment and better working conditions. With catchy songs and dynamic dance numbers, ‘Newsies Jnr’ captures the spirit of youthful rebellion and the power of standing up for what is right.

Over fifty students from Year 5 to Year 8 participated in this production, with additional support by students from surrounding schools filling the female roles. We were thrilled that all shows sold out quickly, a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

Special congratulations to our lead performers from St Patrick’s College:

- Tyler Haynes
- Jayden Armitage
- Mitchell Southby
- Finlay Peppler
- Ryden Sutton
- Harvey Bell

A heartfelt thank you to our Senior leaders, Daniel Pryce-Davies, Alexander Townsley, and Benjamin Whiteside, for their invaluable contribution throughout the production process.

The future of Performing Arts at St Patrick’s College is undoubtedly in good hands, with such a talented and passionate group of students leading the way. We look forward to many more successful productions in the years to come!
